MVMS students in fifth and sixth grade participated in the Region 8 Science Fair on February 11, 2021.
Students chose to create a science project for one of three categories (Physical/Chemical, Behavioral/Biological, or Inventions). They were required to follow the scientific method and create a science fair display board while also having the added challenge of explaining their project in a recorded video submitted for judging.
Students were judged according to their grade level per category. The fifth-grade students competing in the Physical/Chemical Category were Sullivan Belew-"Making Meat Tender" and Katrina Cox-"Glowing Water."
The sixth-grade students participating in the Behavioral/Biological category were Kate Jordan and Rylee Homer. Kate Jordan-"Best Fertilizer" received 1st place and Rylee Homer-"Wolf Hierarchy" received 5th place in this category. Zoey Phillips competed in the Inventions category which included fourth through eighth-grade students. Zoey received 1st place with her invention of an innovative "Quarterback Glove".
5th grade science fair team was coached by Keri Barnes and the 6th grade science fair team was coached by Chelsey Jester.
We are very proud of our student's accomplishments and their hard work to represent MVMS!
